Services across Calderdale who can provide help and support
There are a number of services available across Calderdale who can provide help and support. This may be directly related to HIV, TB and viral hepatitis, or complementing the work being done generally by the Mission Zero initiative.
The Brunswick Centre
The Brunswick Centre offers a suite of services and projects to various communities in Calderdale (and Kirklees). This includes:
- Information on HIV prevention
- Free, rapid and confidential HIV testing at drop-in sessions
- Condoms by Post
- HIV Awareness training
- Support to people living with HIV and to their carers
- And more!
The Hepatitis C Trust
The Hepatitis C Trust is a charity dedicated to eliminating hepatitis C in the UK by 2030.

St Augustine’s Centre
St Augustine’s Centre is a vibrant community centre in Halifax where refugees and people seeking asylum are welcomed and supported.
Services provided include
- Advice on immigration and asylum, and one-to-one support with welfare, housing, health, and access to wider services.
- English language classes, training, creative, social, sports and wellbeing activities, trips and volunteering opportunities
- befriending and integration service

HumanKind/Calderdale Recovery Steps
Calderdale Recovery Steps provides support if you would like to reduce or stop your drug or alcohol use in Calderdale. Services offered include:
- One-to-one support and group programmes
- Support to improve your mental and physical health
- Methadone or buprenorphine prescribing and community alcohol detox
- Needle exchange
- And more!
West Yorkshire Liver Care Operational Delivery Network
The aim of the West Yorkshire Liver Care Operational Delivery Network is to provide a network of specialised treatment services for Hepatitis C virus using Direct Acting Antiviral medication in West Yorkshire and the Craven area of North Yorkshire.
Operational Delivery Networks are focussed on ensuring that clear referral pathways are in place and they coordinate patient pathways between providers to ensure access to specialist resources and expertise. In the Calderdale and Kirklees area the Hepatitis C treatment service is provided by the Gastroenterology department at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. The department manages an outpatient service at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Infirmary in Halifax, providing specialist care for patients with viral hepatitis, most of whom are cared for by Clinical Nurse Specialists.
West Yorkshire Liver Care ODN are launching a new website this summer to provide more information about their services and projects.
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT)
CHFT provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.
Relevant services include:
- Calderdale Sexual Health and HIV Services : Providing a range of information and advice with details of service available including details of HIV treatment and care.
- The Tuberculosis Service: Deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with TB. They offer support and treatment for those with or affected by TB. They also offer advice on TB issues and review TB policy and information.
