Video highlights from the Well Proud Conference are now available to watch below, including a short highlights film and a longer version with more from the day.
Held in Brighouse, the conference brought together partners, practitioners and community organisations from across Calderdale and Kirklees to focus on LGBTQ+ health, wellbeing and partnership working.
A key theme of the day was Mission Zero, the shared ambition to end new transmissions of HIV, TB and viral hepatitis by 2030. John Fox from The Hep C Trust spoke about the importance of prevention, testing, treatment, lived experience and strong community partnerships in achieving that goal.
The discussion also highlighted that ending new transmissions is not only about clinical services. It relies on trust, visibility, tackling stigma and making sure people can access support without fear of judgement or discrimination.
Across the wider programme, speakers shared work from projects including HIV prevention and support, Queer as Smoke, LEVEL, Queer Bits and DRAG. Sessions explored smoking cessation, safer relationships, inclusive screening information, substance use, alcohol, chemsex, Pride and community connection.
The day concluded with a powerful creative contribution from writer, performer and HIV activist Nathaniel J Hall, whose work continues to challenge HIV stigma through storytelling and performance.
Together, the videos capture the energy, insight and shared commitment from the day, and the continuing work to improve LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing across Calderdale and Kirklees.
